William Penney dies
Retired Civil Engineer Had Been in Ill Health since 1928
William Ramsey Penney, sixty-nine years old, formerly a civil engineer for the St. Joseph stock yards died yesterday morning at a hospital in St. Joseph. He had been retired since 1928 when he suffered a serious illness from which he never completely recovered.
Penney was born in Agency. He first operated a news and stationary store at Eighth and Edmond streets in 1890 and after that became a civil engineer at the stock yards. Some years ago he assisted in laying out the stock yards at Fort Dodge, Iowa, and he also planned the yards at Portland, Ore.
Mr. Penney was a bachelor and his survivors are three brothers, Smith A. Penney and John R. Penney, St. Joseph, and Elmer C. Penney, Casper, Wyo. He lived at the St. Charles Hotel. The body is at Heaton-BeGole & Bowman mortuary where services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. C.M. Chilton officiating and burial will be in Mount Mora Cemetery. |
