| Brief Biography: St. Joseph, News-Press 1/8/1961 Mrs. Willie dies on 70th Anniversary of Her Wedding:
Mrs. Matilda Willie, 90, 1907 Mitchell avenue, died Friday night at a St. Joseph hospital. She was the wife of Melchior Willie. Born in Germany, she came to the United States as a small child. She had been a resident of St. Joseph the past 60 years. Mrs. Willie was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 198, and the King Hill chapter of Rebekah Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Willie observed their 70th wedding anniversary Friday. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, George R. Willie, Mission, Kan., and Dr. Roy E. Willie, Bethesda, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. C.W. Ervin, St. Joseph; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Meierhoffer-Fleeman mortuary where services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 with Pastor Martin G. Kabele officiating. Burial will be in Mount Mora Cemetery.
St. Joseph Gazette 1/9/1961 Pallbearers for Mrs. Matilda Willie, 90, will be Frank A. Miller, Paul Priestley, Fred ____, Thomas Moor, Charles Adams and Jack Greer. Services will be at 3:30 this afternoon at Meierhoffer-Fleeman chapel. Pastor Martin G. Kabele will officiat with burial at the Mount Mora Cemetery. Eastern Star sevices under the auspices of St. Joseph Chapter No. 198 will be hel at the Meierhoffer-Fleeman parlors following the service. |
