Brief Biography: April 24, 1916 Mrs. C.R. Woodson Dead. Wife of Doctor Woodson is Summoned After a Brief Illness--Was born in Buchanan County. Mrs. Julia P. Woodson, sixty-three years old, wife of Dr. Charles R. Woodson, prominent physician of St. Joseph and former superintendent of State Hospital No.2, died at 1:30 o,clock this morning at the family home, 107 South Nineteenth street. She had been failing in health since last fall, but became seriously ill only last Tuesday, when she was stricken with pneumonia. Her condition seemed to be favorable yesteray and it was thought that she would recover, but she took a change for the worse last night. Mrs. Woodson was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was born Sept. 5, 1853, on a farm three miles southeast of the city. She was the only daughter of Dr. Paul Taber, a pioneer physician , who came here in 1850. Her father was a native of Albany, N.Y., where he studied medicine, and upon graduating came to St. Joseph to begin practice. He died many years ago and the widow and daughter made their home with the late Abner Copeland. Mrs. Taber died several years later. Mrs. Woodson was educated in Doctor Dulin's College in the old Patee House, and at the Sacred Heart Convent in St. Joseph. She and Doctor Woodson were married Feb. 26, 1873. Mrs. Julia Edman, St. Joseph, and two grandchildren, Ransom and Pauline Woodson, children of Paul G. Woodson, a son who died two years ago, survive here. She had been a member of the First Christian Church many years. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home. Dr. C.M.Chilton, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Mora Cemetery.
