Schuyler Appley, 63 of Jamesport, formerly of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:00a.m. Friday, March 2 at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00p.m. Thursday evening at the Funeral Home, where friends may call after 11:00a.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Mt. Mora Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels Program, in care of the Funeral Home.
Schuyler was born June 22, 1948 to Harold and Mary (Walters) Appley in Trenton, MO. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1967 and attended college for a year before enlisting in the United States Army. Upon returning from the Army, Schuyler began working for MODOT, where he devoted several years of service. He was later employed at the Gallatin Lumber Company and worked there for 9 years, always eager to help the customers. He later worked at Premium Standard Farms but was forced to retire 2009 due to failing health.
Schuyler delighted in the time he could spend outdoors and was always eager for the next camping trip. He was an avid Fenton collector, building his collection piece by piece over the years from auctions, antique stores, and flea markets. Schuyler was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Schuyler is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sons: Charles Appley of Altamont, MO, Alan Appley of Osborn, MO, Step-children: Ronald Hiley of Altamont, MO, Angel Nicholson of Beale AFB, CA, Sisters: Ann Diel of Sapulea, OK, and Marion Courtis of Tucson, AZ. Schuyler has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |
