She was born April 20, 1919 in St. Joseph. Following her marriage to Milton Tootle in 1979, she and he resided in Edmonds, Washington, until their return to St. Joseph in 2005.
Ruth had a long and successful career with St. Joseph's American National Bank and its predecessors prior to her retirement as the head of the bank's Central File Department.
Survivors include nephew Tom Hampton, great-nephews, Earl Hampton and Eric Hampton, step-son Milton Tootle, Jr.(Ann), three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
