| Brief Biography: Obituary from June 17, 1963 St. Joseph News-Press: Mrs. Minna Long Beckley, 86, 502 South 9th street, died last evening at a hospital in Kansas City, where she had been a patient since last Wednesday. She had been ill for three months. A native and lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Mrs. Beckley was the widow of Emmett E. Beckley who died June 4, 1956. He was a retired attorney and real estate man. Mrs. Beckley belonged to the First Methodist Church. Mrs. Beckley was the daughter of Augusta and Bertha Horn Long of St. Joseph. Her father was a doctor of medicine. One of her sons, Dr. Emmett E. Beckley Jr., is a well-known dentist. He formerly maintained an office here and in Kansas City where he now resides. In addition to Doctor Beckley, survivors include two other sons, Barrett L. Beckley, St. Joseph, and Benton C. Beckley, Palm Springs, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. Walter Casteel, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, three nephews and one niece. The body arrived here this afternoon and was taken to the Meierhoffer-Fleeman mortuary pending service arrangements. |
